Føroyar heiðraðar av IHF

Á IHF-kongressini, sum hevur verið í Kairo seinastu dagarnar, vóru Føroyar í gjár heiðraðar við IHF President´s Development Award.

Virðislønin verður latin fyri serligar tænastu, menning og útbreiðslu av hondbólti í egnum landi og/ella kring allan heimin. IHF grundgav soleiðis fyri at Føroyar skuldu fáa heiðurin:

– The Faroe Islands are the smallest country in terms of population to ever win a medal at an IHF World Championship, as they finished third in the 2025 Men’s Junior (U21) World Championship.

– They have continued their development after finishing seventh in the 2023 edition of the competition and eighth in the 2023 Men’s Youth (U19) World Championship.

– Their women’s senior team qualified for the 2025 Women’s World Championship for the first time in history.

– Teams from the Faroe Islands always bring many spectators with them to the various events.
